Notebooks of Leonardo Da Vinci

Posted by in Random Thoughts, Technology

I have always wanted to lay my hands on the Notebooks of Leanardo Da Vinci. Searching for it few years back I ended up buying Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown – it was still in hardcover edition – and not famous – and I thought it was some work on the real Da Vinci codes. Anyway no regrets – Dan Brown’s book was a great read and I enjoyed it (though I liked his Angels and Demons more than Da Vinci Code) – especially since Out the wont: and….read more

Posted by in Random Thoughts

If you can keep your head when all about you Are loosing theirs and blaming it on you,If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,But make allowance for their doubting too;If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies.Or being hated don’t give way to hating,And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise; If you can dream- and not make dreams your master-If you can think- and not make thoughts your aim:If you can meet with Triumph and…read more

On Vedic mathematics

Posted by in Random Thoughts

Was surfing around and found few articles written by Srijith on Vedic Mathematics. I am linking them here. Even though this is from 2003, its as one can imagine a timeless concept! From what I see, lacking enough feedback – he stopped after a few posts. So if you guys like what you read, drop him a line and ask him to restart. We had a professor at my Engg. school who used to take classes on Vedic mathematics. It did help me quite a bit during the rat race…read more

The rat and the butterfly – A fable of software development

Posted by in Random Thoughts, Technology

I came across this story by John Walker, the founder of Autodesk (coinhabitant of Switzerland) – he is talking about overdose of idealism and quest for purity that very often ensnares the open source projects and often leads to their death. I personally think that Open Source is perhaps a good way for developing concepts but for application to real life situations – it has to be properly – for the lack of any other appropriate word coming to my mind – commercialised. A restaurant website with a difference

Posted by in India/Kerala, Random Thoughts, Website

As has become a habit these days, I was checking out the blog links from Manoj’s Melam page (check my links section). And that led me to this interesting site of Madhu Menon, who quit his job as a techie and started his own restaurant. Interesting story – but to be frank I have no clue how good his food creations are – have asked few of my Bangalore friends to check out and let me know. But his restaurant’s website – I found it very interesting – and perhaps…read more
